Did you know that missing teeth can cause bone loss in the jaw? That’s right. When there is no stimulation in the jawbone, it can often degrade, giving the appearance of a sunken, older facial aesthetic. If have missing teeth – or even just one – you’ll be happy to know that Snödental can bring back the natural beauty and function of your smile with expertly placed dental implants!

What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are devices used to replace either a single tooth or as anchors for bridges that replace several teeth. They are made up of a screw-like post, abutment, and a custom-made crown, designed to resemble the natural look of your teeth.

What Happens During a Dental Implant Procedure?

Dental implants are devices used to replace either a single tooth or as anchors for bridges that replace several teeth. They are made up of a screw-like post, abutment, and a custom-made crown, designed to resemble the natural look of your teeth.

Then, your dentist will remove the damaged tooth if one is still present, if not, your doctor will cut the gum to expose the bone before drilling a hole where the implant post will be inserted. This post will serve as your new root.

After your bone has been given enough time to grow around the post, your doctor will place the abutment which requires a minor surgery with localized anesthesia. Once the abutment is in place, your crown can be positioned, fully restoring the look and function of the tooth.

What are the Benefits of Dental Implants?

Implants can help you feel like you finally have your smile back. When you complete the procedure, you can look forward to:

  • Regaining the ability to chew and speak normally

  • A younger look that makes you feel more confident

  • Preventing bone loss associated with missing teeth

What to Expect

Depending on the case, implants can require several visits.

Your dentist will implement a local anesthetic before inserting the implant and then sowing the treatment area. The healing process can take anywhere from two to four months depending on the extent of the procedure. After your gums have had time to heal (usually after three months) you will come in for an examination in which we will determine how well the implant has fused to the bone and if the treatment is going smoothly, you will receive a healing cap.

After a couple of weeks, you will be asked to come in for a final visit in which the treatment area is disinfected and the healing cap is removed and replaced with the final implant crown.
