If you’ve suffered from stained or chipped teeth, you might feel self-conscious about showing off your smile. At Snödental, we can make that a thing of the past with our expertly designed and placed dental veneers!
Veneers are custom-made thin shells that fit and adhere to your teeth to cover small structural defects or staining. After these shells are fused to your teeth, they can last between seven and fifteen years with proper care. There are two main variations of dental veneers:
This type of veneer is made out of a composite resin that can be designed to resemble the color of your natural teeth. The materials make composites cheaper and they can often be made in an in-house lab, meaning you can leave with these veneers on the same day.
Porcelain veneers look more natural than composite veneers because they can be made to match the shape and color of your teeth. Although the ceramic materials make porcelain veneers more durable, they can also be more expensive and can take longer to complete.
Veneers can restore the color and texture to your natural smile. The benefits of this procedure include:
Quick and minimally intrusive treatment
Easy maintenance
No irritation to the gum tissue
The first step will be a thorough dental examination during which the dentist will discuss the results you’re trying to obtain. This often requires an X-ray or impressions of your mouth and teeth.
The next step is to prepare your teeth for the veneers by reshaping the surface and making a model that is sent to the lab. It takes anywhere from two to four weeks for your dentist to receive the veneers back from the laboratory.
The final step is the bonding process in which the veneer is cemented onto your teeth. During this process, your dentist might trim the veneer to match the shape of your teeth and remove any excess cement before making the final adjustments.
Treatment can take three to five appointments depending on the patient.
In your first appointment, you will undergo a dental examination and you’ll discuss your treatment goals with the dentist. Then, we will take impressions and x-rays which we will use to make wax molds for the veneers.
The next step will happen in your following visit. If needed, we will contour and smoothen the surface of your teeth. Afterwards, the dentist will take a final impression and send the models to a lab so that the veneers can be produced.
Your final appointments will be to adhere the veneers and make sure they fit well. Afterwards, you’ll be asked to come in for a follow-up to do any final adjustments.
